GEICO Insurance is recognized by millions of households across the country. This is thanks in part to the company's creative ads on television and its well-known spokesperson, the "GEICO Gecko." But clever ads can only go so far, and much of the credit must be due to GEICO's products as well.

More and more insurers are getting on board with technologies that make things easier for the consumer, such as online portals and mobile apps. The GEICO mobile insurance application is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad mobile devices.

About GEICO Insurance

GEICO's founder, Leo Goodwin, started the company in 1936 with the intent to target government employees and military personnel. Goodwin wanted to provide a wide range of insurance products including homeowners, motorcycle, automobile, renters, life, boat, commercial auto, and business insurance, among others.

GEICO Insurance is the third-largest auto insurer in the U.S. Today, GEICO insurance is no longer just for a niche group. It's also for the general public too. In honor of their roots, though, the company still provides major discounts and savings to members of the armed services and government workers.

GEICO has earned A.M. Best's highest financial strength rating of A++ Superior. They have over 27,000 employees at field offices throughout the U.S. and serve over 11 million policyholders. GEICO ranked third overall in customer satisfaction in a 2021 J.D. Power & Associates auto insurance customer survey.
